The relations of the Haller family began with Haller Ruprecht the elder, who received the consent of King Ulaszlo II to buy property in Hungary for 4000 forints. Ruprecht’s son, Ruprecht the Younger, settled in Buda and from him started the Hungarian branch of the Haller family. Petru’s son moved to Transylvania and the Transylvanian branch of the family started from him. Haller Petru was the judge of Sibiu, he obtained the first properties in Transylvania. His son Gabriel, becomes Bocskai Ştefan’s brother-in-law, the one who would become ruler. Ştefan’s son obtained the properties in Ogra and Sânpaul in 1609. Haller Ştefan started the construction of the Castle in Sânpaul in 1610. His grandson, Haller Ştefan, obtained the status of baron in 1699, and his sons Ladislau, Gabriel and Janos the status of counts in 1713. Among Ştefan’s sons, Gabriel inherited the properties in Ogra and Sânpaul, after the division of the wealth. Gabriel marries Karolyi Alexandru’s daughter, Karolyi Klara. After his death in 1723, the widow took care of raising the children and managing the properties alone. Ladislau and Gabriel were born from their marriage. When the wealth was divided, Ladislau received the castle in Ogra and Gabriel the castle in Sânpaul.
